Good thing...

he likes playing in the water! This will be our saving grace this summer in the Phoenix heat!


Last weekend Nana took Ethan out to help water her flowers and he had a lot of fun with the hose.
Notice how he his spraying water all over.


He kept trying to drink out of it and then he would make a funny face. I had a hard time getting the drinking part, but I got a lot of the funny faces.









He's starting to look like a little boy!

Yesterday we were going to go for a walk with my friend Kim, but her kids wanted to go in the splash pad at the park near us. After the hose experience I have been wanting to introduce him to the splash park, so this was the perfect opportunity!

He is being "rained" on, but he doesn't mind.

The water goes on and off, this is his "where'd it go?" face.


"Come back!"
I have the feeling we will be going to this park quite a bit!

Block Watch BBQ

I am on the board of directors for my HOA and as a part of that, I started, and continue to help lead, our community block watch. Last Saturday I organized a community BBQ. We had a pretty good turn out and ended up with way too much food thanks to the generous donations of our community members and local businesses.

This is a picture of 3 out of the 4 boys on my street that were all born between July and October of last year.



We rented an inflatable jump house for the BBQ. We were able to find a little window of calm time so that Ethan could jump with Mike.

This is Ethan's second experience with a slide, and he thought it was really fun. He especially liked being pulled back up to the top after going down.

Sorry it is sideways, but here is Ethan jumping. Mike thought I was just taking a picture, as you'll hear in our dialogue. :)

Scooting

Ethan is scooting! At this point he is just scooting in circles (pivoting), but he is definitely pulling himself around to get stuff. He is also rolling A LOT!

Cute day

Ethan has been very smiley and especially cute today. He has also been chewing on his bottom lip, which is new and adorable. I wish my camera could fully capture his cuteness!

What He's Been Up To

I really try not to post several big long posts all at the same time, but I've been busy and need to catch up--sorry.

Ethan LOVES to be read to! This is one of his favorite books! He smiles really big and starts rocking back and forth and trying to grab it every time I read it to him. This means I pretty much have it memorized.

Ethan can roll over now which means every time I go to get him after a nap he is somewhere else in his crib. This was the first time I have ever seen him roll to his tummy and get his arms free.
When he sits he rocks up onto his feet, and then face plants--no crawling yet.


He is a "Big Guy"! That is why I was surprised when I went to the doctor's office and the nurse weighed him in at less than when he was four months! The doctor didn't mention it, so I asked him and he looked surprised. He took Ethan out, stood on the big scale, then stood on it by himself, and did the math to put Ethan at around 16 1/2 lbs. They didn't give me a sheet of statistics this time, but that is 40 something percentile I believe. He was about 25 in long I think, and I can't remember his head circumference.



While we were in Utah and there was so much exciting stuff going on, he learned how to purse his lips and turn his head away from the bottle. *sigh*


He loves his hands and will sit and examine them at length.He loves chewing on cloth. Most mornings the corner of his blanket is soaked from him chewing on it.
He has liked every food we have given him: rice cereal, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, carrots, yellow squash, peas, bananas, apples, and broccoli (in that order). Not much of a surprise with that whole "big guy" status.
We could not ask for a better baby!

Ethan and Sam

It is really cute to see these two play together, or near each other. They are working on not clobbering each other, not grabbing faces, and not pulling toys out of each other's hands, or at least I'm working on enforcing those things. Sam is Ethan's role model--Sam can crawl and stand! He is so cool!
The kitchen has the best toys!
