March

Boys, always boys!
I went to Ethan's classroom before chaperoning his field trip and was amused by the personal library he has going on his desk.

On Dr. Suess's birthday they went to the Kroc Center and listened to players from the Cardinals read Dr. Suess books.

Ethan got to ask a (provided) question at the microphone.

A few coworkers and I participated in a bRUNch.  Running and then a yummy breakfast was awesome!  I last minute decided to do a 10k instead of a 5k and was proud of myself for being able to do it without running much lately.

While Ethan was at a birthday party, I took the younger kids to the Tres Rios Wetland festival.  Asher did NOT want to go in the canoe, but I bribed him and he ended up liking it.  Benton sat up front.

Asher wanted to sit on the ground by me.  He did not appreciate that his pants got wet.
 We got to go fishing!

 And shoot arrows!

 Our portrait wall is updated.
If we bring a blanket to church, Asher will usually fall asleep (church is at 1pm).

Benton was so so excited to play baseball.  It was great having everything be on weeknights and here in Laveen.  Most of our team was made up of friends, so that made it easier and more fun (Shivers, Leybases, Burninghames, Pews, Schultzes).
Personal Progress Olympics closing ceremony.  Izzie and Mary got really competitive, which made it fun.  The winners and a few friends got to go to Wet N Wild.

Lunch date with Ethan after he met his goal to pass of all of his multiplication facts.
The AZ Science Center came to storytime and taught about germs.
I attended the color run at the boys' school and ran around with them.

Wet N Wild opened!  Asher did not like the sound of the crashing water in the big playground.  It reached maybe 70* and the water is not heated, so it was a COLD day!  I was determined to be fun and do whatever the boys wanted.  Ethan took advantage and started picking the wettest rides.

We were so excited Benton got a 48in wristband so he could do everything. It turns out that life guards at the slides measure on their own anyway and he is actually about an inch short, so he didn't get to do everything.

 More boys!
Our friends plan a Color Fight every year during spring break. Ethan is just being silly in this picture.

Asher made up a "mini golf" game hitting Beanie Boos down the stairs.

Asher started throwing a fit and fell asleep like this.  After I got him up and tried to calm him down, he kept his eyes closed for 45min to an hour out of pure stubborness.  We have been trying to skip naps because he has been struggling to fall asleep at night and then also wakes up during the night.  If we leave him alone, he falls asleep in the afternoon, though.
Free ice cream day at DQ!
 Nap time...
Last March I ran a race in the White Tank Mountains and the wildflowers were incredible, so I planned a campout for the YW at the same time of year.  The saguaros and city views were still beautiful, but the drought meant that here were no flowers.  I was really disappointed, but it was still fun.

Jessica and I ended up being the only ones in a huge 11 person tent.  It got really windy, though, and the tent kept collapsing.  We tried rotating it and restaking it and finally gave up at about 1am and slept in our cars.  I suggested we flatten it, but we were joking about how it would be funny if it would still be standing in the morning after we finally bailed, so Jessica decided to leave it up.  Some of the poles ended up breaking!

We went on a guided tour to see petroglyphs. The petroglyphs were amazing, but the tour guide was slow and dry.
We escaped the heat at the nature center and played games for a little while.

The second night I had my 2 man tent all to myself and enjoyed some quiet reading.  We had set up enough small tents to not worry about the wind, so, of course, it wasn't windy.  With ear plugs in and no wind, I slept great!
When there has been rain, there is a waterfall here.  We decided to hike over even though we knew it was dry, and it was a lot of fun.
We climbed up to a shelf in the waterfall where there was still some standing water.
Trip 2 to Wet N Wild

Ethan was not happy about the pigtails, but I had fun playing with is hair during church.

Asher loved his (first?) trip to the dentist.  He thought the XRay machine was fun and was very comfortable talking to the dentist.

 Asher loves his gymnastics class!

Hiking on one of Mike's flex days.
Kris and Rick came out for Easter weekend and had great seats for the pageant.  Mike wasn't really interested, so I took Ethan.

Of course Ethan crashed on the way home.

With Easter falling on April Fool's Day, I prepped two sets of Easter baskets for the boys the night before...
