Smarty Pants

On the way up to St. George Ethan started correctly identifying his right and left foot and right and left shoe (we've been using those labels since he was born; it wasn't just taught in the car)! Then this morning we were counting how many trains he got in his stocking. I was having him repeat each number after me, and not only could he say every number between 1 and 10 very clearly, but he could continue the sequence without me at times. Then, Mike asked him how many trains he has and he said (and says every time) "5, 6, 7, 8". He constantly surprises me now with his vocabulary and how quickly he remembers new things!

I hope you are all having a very Merry Christmas morning!

Credit Where Credit is Due

He may get his big head from me, but the awesome bed head was definitely inherited from Mike.

More Proof

Here is further proof of Ethan's Thomas obsession, and a just a cute clip of his little voice. He doesn't have a very big vocabulary, but here's a big chunk of it.

I think it's very funny in this video when he points to the wrong engine and says, "no, no, no" and corrects himself.

For those of you who don't know Thomas as well as Ethan does, the names of these engines from left to right are: Edward, James, Henry, Gordon, Percy, Thomas, Emily.

While We Were Out...

Tonight when I asked Ethan if he wanted to go play at Carlee's house, he said yes, without even being concerned about me leaving him there. When we pulled up to my friend Jessica's house, Ethan said, "Bye Mommy Mommy." We walked in and he went right to playing. I'm glad he likes being there so much! When I picked Ethan up, Jessica told me that Ethan can sing the Sunbeam song. I guess he learned that in Nursery! He's cracking us up with his singing as you can see in the video below.

Ethan has also multiplied his vocabulary lately. He repeats most of what we say. At Thanksgiving he could say some form of most people's names, and he is very good at many Thomas the Train names, of course. When you hear the words in person, it's amazing that he can say "Donald", "Edward", and "Henry" with so much clarity! His favorite to say is "Donald". I've also started having him repeat words in prayers or scriptures and have been amazed at what he can pronounce! Below is a video with many of his new words.

"JJ song" means the Elmo song but with "JJ" instead of "Elmo".

December 1

It is now winter in Phoenix! I'm wearing long sleeves, Mike and I got the flu, Christmas music is on the radio, the house is almost clean enough to justify putting up decorations, and we're sitting waiting for the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular to start!

Pictures to come of Thanksgiving, but on Thanksgiving Day I ran a 10k and was more sluggish than my recent running. Maybe if winter had come earlier I would have been more prepared for a chilly Detroit morning run.
