We had contemplated this move a long time ago, but it is much more expensive than sod. Then we spent 6 years mowing, watering!, and maintaining summer grass that is uncomfortable to be on and overseeding beautiful winter grass (SO much effort).
So, when we moved into this house and the small grass area was dead and our lawn mower was broken, Mike started planning to lay artificial grass himself. As with all of our big projects of late, I listed it on Craigslist in "gigs offered". We found an experienced guy who could do it all in half a day for about the same price it would cost Mike just for materials.
SOLD!
So, today, while we hosted an Easter brunch, our backyard transformed into a permanently green yard! Yay!

We have artificial grass too and love it! Hate how hot real grass gets in the summer! Nice yard!
