Let Me Count the Ways

I have been keeping a list on my phone of all the quirky little things about Benton that we love so much.

1.  Those full, chubby cheeks!

2.  When he wakes up crying and we go into comfort him, he does not need snuggling and calming, he needs laughing.  If I want to get him to go back to sleep, I get him to start giggling and then put him down.

3.  I love watching his little toddling walk, chest out, arms kind of out and back, a little waddle.  So cute!  Not to mention how funny it still seems to see him come walking around a corner like it is nothing.

4.  He loves our Cozy Coupe and climbs in and out to sit in it by himself.

5.  He is constantly pointing at stuff and his favorite word is "go".  Putting these together, he'll come over and express that he wants up.  As soon as he is picked up he points at something and says, "go, go, go".  He repeats this over and over taking us (particularly Mike) all over the house so he can touch things that are usually out of his reach.

6.  Benton LOVES to be outside and will attempt to sneak out whenever possible.

7.  Benton purses his lips a lot.  As a result, it is common for him to inadvertently whistle as he does whatever it is he is doing.

8.  I don't know if it is because he sees me tear his food up for him, but when I hand him food, he grabs it with two hands and tears it right away.

9.  When Benton has a pacifier in his mouth, he repeatedly reaches up and rotates it 90-180 degrees, like he's trying to find a more comfortable position for it.

10.  If he wants to express his dissatisfaction with something he will fuss or whine for a few seconds and then make a (silent) whiny face and hold it for an extended period of time.  He points his face up, squints his eyes closed, scrunches his nose, and pulls his lips back enough to see his top teeth in his open mouth (teeth are still coming in).  It appears that he is intentionally showing us his "sad" face to convince us how sad he is because there is never any crying or sound accompanying the face.

11.  Stink bug!  Lately, Benton will tip over so he is standing on his feet and head and then play in that position.

12.  DAD!  Every evening, as Mike comes into the house he is greeted by Ethan running to him and yelling, "DAADDDYYY!"  When Benton hears Ethan, he now "runs" out sometimes yelling, "DAAAA" as well.  Then the boys stay glued to Mike's side for most of the evening.  Benton insists on being held for awhile after Mike gets home..

13.  He loves the little plastic baby books we've had since Ethan was born.  He will carry one around with him and then sit down to flip the pages.  One of them is a peek-a-boo book, so when he turns the pages he says, "boo! boo! boo!"

14.  Benton really like stuffed animals, particularly Curious George.  He will hug it while he is laying down, or hold it while he toddles around the house.  SO cute!

There are SO many things to love about Benton.  I'm so grateful for my little cutie!
