Museum with Sam

Today was my first trip to the museum with Ethan and Sam. I was planning on going right after their morning naps, when they are happiest, but I have to go into work this afternoon, so we went right when the museum opened at 9. We played for almost 2 hours before the boys got precariously close to melting down (no naps). They both crashed on the way home.

Here are the boys playing in the car wash. There are little tricycles for the older kids, but the boys liked these push carts.



We spent most of the time in the 3 and under room. I like this room because it has gates so I don't have to hold onto Sam's backpack "leash." The boys get to run around free in here and there are lots of fun things to do. Also, the carpet is magic and doesn't cause rug burn, even when kids (Ethan) take a rolling nose dive down the carpeted ramp.

It's a race! Sam struggled at the top because of his slippery socks, so Ethan won.
This was at the top of the carpeted ramp (mentioned above). Sam loved going up and down the ramp. At the top was a motion activated fan in the ground. Sam loved that too!
The boys of course loved the grocery store and funnoodle room, but I was a little busy keeping track of them, so no pictures.

Correction

I can't fix my old post at the moment, but before I forget, Ethan is 29 in tall and his head circumference is 48 cm-90th percentile.

Phoenix Children's Museum

Mike, Ethan, and I went to the Phoenix Children's Museum for the first time on Saturday! We've been so excited to take advantage of the pass Ethan got from Nana and Papa for his birthday. He loved it! The goal now is to take him as many weeks as possible. In fact, Ethan, Sam, and I are planning another trip tomorrow!

Ethan was VERY into the grocery carts. He kept trying to steal them from other kids until we found him his own.

Ethan's favorite was the funnoodle room:
It was very hard to get a good picture because Ethan was running non-stop back and forth and because it was a big room full of Styrofoam noodles.
It is nerve wracking in there because the kids can disappear so fast. Fortunately, Ethan's not too fast yet, there were employees at every exit who were very alert and, when if nothing else, we could just look for his chubby little feet!

Good thing...

We don't live in Rochester! My mom got this jacket for my niece Ruth who is the same age as Ethan. I was testing the size on Ethan to see if Ruth will need a bigger size to get her through the long long winter in Rochester. I tried to get a picture of him standing with this on, but everytime he stood up we would tip over, a straight-bodied "timber" kind of tip! Oh my was it funny to watch. It was at least as funny as any scene from The Christmas Story! After a lifetime of shorts and t shirts, Ethan would not fare well in a real winter!

Let's Recap

I had big plans for Ethan's first birthday blog post, but his actual birthday was pretty busy what with work, our freezer quitting, and Mike having rehearsal for a vocal quintet he sang with at church on Sunday. I was hoping to spend some quality time going through all the pictures we've taken of Ethan and marvelling at how he has grown. 1st full BYU season--his first BYU game was watching against TCU last year. He was 2 days old, and it did not go well at all (for the Cougars). Let's hope this year goes better!

It has been quite the journey to get to this point, and I wish I could turn back time and relive it all! We love this little guy SO much! He is such a happy, fun baby! He is practically running all over now. We have been teaching him sign language and he can say: hi, bye, more, drink (milk), all done, fan, and light. He can show us where his head is, but that's it for identifying body parts. He loves playing outside, playing with Sam and Dad, putting lids on containers, reading, and playing in water. We are so lucky to have such a great kid and look forward to many years of watching him grow (but slow down kiddo)!

I can't find the paper from the doctor's office, but if I remember correctly, these are his latest stats:
Height: 29.5 in 25th Percentile
Weight: 21 lbs 5 oz 25th-50th Percentile (this was on an empty stomach)
Head Circumference: 43 cm 90th Percentile
